Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I invest in the stock market?
The answer to this is situational. Every single person is different based on various factors such as debt obligations, income, age, marital status, children, etc. The best answer to give at this time is to invest only the amount that you are comfortable to lose entirely. If you would like to get a detailed answer, you can get a customized analysis when you choose CH Personal Finance as your personal financial consultant.
What investing platform does CH Personal Finance use?
Currently, we use Fidelity and Vanguard. Fidelity is very simplistic to use and has a boatload of support if you need help navigating the site. The Vanguard platform is a bit more complex and somewhat dated. Vanguard is used to invest in specific Vanguard funds and ETFs because there isn’t a fee.
What about the Robinhood app?
Technology has finally evolved for retail investors. Robinhood is one of those platforms targeting the younger population and is increasingly being adopted by the older generation as well. At the time, Robinhood was the only platform that offered free stock trades and fractional stock trades. Now, almost every major brokerage firm offers free stock trading. Robinhood is only good for trading stocks and does not have a good stock research platform. Options trading is also simplistic on this platform, but this is a bad thing for new investors that are unfamiliar with options.
